Hyaline arteriolar sclerosis.

This is my picture of a hyalinized arteriole.

It happens from high blood pressure. Notice that the wall is thickened by pink stuff. Trust me that this is mostly basement membrane material. This is what happens to the small arteries in people who have uncontrolled high blood pressure.

You don't want to have this, because it narrows the holes down the middle of the arteries, and it makes it harder for the arteries to constrict and dilate which they need to do to regulate blood flow to various organs.

Pathologists look for this especially around the capsules of the adrenal glands, where it's easy to see.
