A hair follicle is a special adaptation of stratified squamous epithelium.

Someday you may learn the names of all of its layers.

For now, the hair follicle is a tube of stratified squamous epithelium, invaginated into the dermis, which gives rise to a dead keratin structure which is the familiar hair.
