European Chess without any royal pieces, but with the opportunity to win immediately by bringing another side's flag to your own corner square. You cannot carry your own flag, but if you land on its square, it returns to your corner. If one of your units lands on another side's flag, it picks it up. Dropping a flag, probably so that another one of your units can pick it up, is a full-move action. If another player brings a third player's flag to your corner, you do not win.
I discovered the game works better if any unit bearing another side's flag is able to move as a king. This also made generating a machine strategy practicable.
These are simple illustrations rather than strong opponents.
