This cancer appeared abruptly on the shoulder of a 17 year old man. It killed him within two months.
Only a few of these dark cancer cells bear any traces of skeletal muscle differentiation, but that is the cell of origin. Look for the few with dark-pink staining cytoplasm.
The risk factors for this cancer are completely unknown. Getting it seems to be a matter of sheer bad luck. It is among the most malignant of solid tumors.
