Neurogenic atrophy of muscle.
The triangular ("angulated") appearance of these shrunken skeletal muscle fibers is characteristic of neurogenic atrophy. Because all the fibers are involved, the nerve probably was infarcted or severed, rather than affected by intrinsic disease which would damage one axon at a time.
